TRANSOCEAN® horizontal ribbon mixer is an ideal machine for mixing of various powders and liquids. The mixer is composed of a U-shaped mixing chamber, ribbon stirring blades and transmission parts. The U-shaped structure can effectively reduce the resistance of the mixed materials (powders or semi-fluids) in the chamber. A heating/ cooling jacket is optional outside the chamber. Electric heaters, heat transfer oil or steam can be used as the heat source. Running water in the jacket can be used as cooling media. The forward ribbons and reverse ribbons mounted along the horizontal mixing shaft create low power consuming yet highly efficient mixing environments in the chamber. Usually double layer or triple layer spiral ribbon blades are adopted. The outer ribbons gather the materials from both ends to the center while the inner ribbons push the materials from the center to the two ends, which form strong vortexes in the chamber. The processes are repeated until the materials uniformly mixed. The mixing shaft of a small mixer can be directly connected with a geared motor, which characterizes simple structures, reliable operation and easy maintenance. The mixing shaft of a large mixer is connected to a geared motor via a belt to provide overload protection for the equipment. The finished products are discharged from the discharge port at the bottom of the silo. The discharge mechanism varies with the properties of the products. For discharge of powders, pneumatic wide-opening doors are usually adopted, for discharge of granules or semi-fluids, manual butterfly valves or pneumatic butterfly valves can be applicable.

TRANSOCEAN® horizontal ribbon mixer agitators are widely used in processing of solid-solid (i.e. powder and powder) or solid-paste (i.e. powder and glue liquid) to produce putty powders, powder coating, dry powder, agrochemical, medicine, food, feed, ceramics, refractory, etc. It is especially suitable for mixing viscous materials.
