1. Grinding media maintenance
1. Regularly check the wear: The grinding media (beads) will gradually wear during use. Check the wear of the grinding media regularly (for example, weekly or monthly, the specific frequency depends on the intensity of use). Excessively worn beads will affect the grinding efficiency and quality, because the collision and shear forces will be weakened when their size is reduced. When the bead diameter wear exceeds a certain limit (usually determined according to the equipment and grinding requirements, such as 10% - 20% of the original diameter), replacement should be considered.
2. Control the filling amount and uniformity: The filling amount of the grinding media is crucial to the grinding effect. Before starting the equipment each time, check whether the filling amount of the grinding media meets the equipment requirements. Insufficient filling amount will lead to reduced grinding efficiency, while excessive filling amount may overload the motor or hinder the movement of the grinding media. At the same time, ensure that the grinding media is evenly distributed in the grinding chamber to avoid local accumulation.
3. Clean and screen the grinding media: After a certain period of use (such as every few months), clean the grinding media to remove broken beads and impurities. Screening equipment or simple manual screening methods can be used to screen out complete beads that meet the size requirements and refill them into the grinding chamber, discarding broken or non-standard beads.
2. Equipment cleaning and maintenance
1. Grinding chamber cleaning: After each use of the bead mill, drain the material in the grinding chamber as much as possible, and then rinse the grinding chamber with an appropriate solvent (such as an organic solvent or water that is compatible with the material). Perform deep cleaning regularly (for example, weekly), open the grinding chamber, and use a soft brush or rag to remove residual materials, dirt, and worn grinding media fragments on the chamber wall and stirring device. For stubborn stains, a mild detergent can be used, but be careful that the detergent cannot corrode the equipment material.
2. Feed and discharge system cleaning: The cleaning of the feed system includes the feed pipe and the feed pump. Clean the feed pipe regularly to prevent the material from scaling or clogging on the inner wall of the pipe. For the feed pump, perform regular maintenance according to the pump's instruction manual, such as cleaning the inside of the pump body, checking the wear of the impeller, etc. The discharge system should also be kept clean, and the discharge pipe and discharge port should be cleaned regularly to ensure smooth discharge.
3. Cooling system cleaning: If it is a water-cooled system, regularly check whether the water pipes are blocked, scaled or leaking. You can use a special scale cleaning agent to clean the inside of the water pipes to keep the cooling system unobstructed. For air-cooled systems, clean the dust and debris on the vents and heat sinks to ensure good ventilation and heat dissipation.
3. Mechanical parts maintenance
1. Stirring device inspection: Regularly (such as monthly) check the wear of the stirring device (including stirring shaft, stirrer, etc.). The blades, rod pins and other parts of the stirrer are easily worn by the grinding media and materials. Check for signs of deformation, breakage or excessive wear. If problems are found, replace the damaged parts in time. At the same time, check the sealing of the stirring shaft to ensure that the seal is good to prevent material leakage.
2. Motor maintenance: The motor is the power source of the bead mill. Keep the motor clean and regularly clean the dust and debris on the motor casing to prevent it from affecting the heat dissipation of the motor. Check whether the wiring of the motor is firm to avoid looseness causing poor contact or short circuit. According to the motor's instruction manual, regularly check the insulation performance and bearing lubrication of the motor. If the motor is abnormally hot, noisy, or has unstable speed, repair or replace it in time.
3. Mechanical seal maintenance: The mechanical seal is a key component to prevent material leakage in the grinding chamber. Check the sealing performance of the mechanical seal regularly to observe whether there are signs of material leakage. Check the wear of the seal, such as whether the sealing surface is scratched, worn, or aged. Generally, the seal needs to be replaced after a period of use (depending on the specific equipment and usage) to ensure a good sealing effect.
4. Operating parameter monitoring and adjustment
1. Pressure and temperature monitoring: During the operation of the bead mill, the pressure and temperature of the grinding chamber are monitored in real time. Excessive pressure may be caused by excessive feed speed, blockage of the discharge port, or abnormal movement of the grinding medium. It is necessary to adjust the feed speed or check whether the equipment is faulty in time. Excessive temperature may affect the performance of the material and the service life of the equipment. To ensure that the cooling system works properly, adjust the grinding parameters (such as reducing the speed and grinding time) to control the temperature if necessary.
2. Speed and power inspection: Regularly check the speed of the stirring device and the motor power of the bead mill. Changes in speed may affect grinding efficiency and quality. For example, a drop in speed may be caused by motor failure, wear of transmission parts, or excessive load. Abnormal changes in motor power (such as sudden increase or decrease in power) may also indicate problems with the equipment and require timely inspection and adjustment.
5. Equipment storage and environmental maintenance
1. Equipment storage: When the bead mill is not used for a long time, the equipment should be stored in a dry and well-ventilated place. If possible, clean the grinding chamber and the feeding and discharging systems, and discharge all liquid materials to prevent the equipment from rusting or breeding bacteria. During the storage of the equipment, a proper amount of anti-rust oil can be applied to parts that are prone to rust (such as metal agitators, grinding chamber walls, etc.).
2. Environmental maintenance: Keep the working environment of the bead mill clean and tidy and at a suitable temperature and humidity. Avoid exposing the equipment to moisture, corrosive gases or excessive dust. If the working environment is harsh, take appropriate protective measures, such as installing a dehumidifier, ventilation equipment or air filter.
